Children’s Photographer in Munich: Here’s How a Children’s Photo Shoot Works
I usually talk to my clients on the phone before a children’s photo shoot. I’m interested in their ideas regarding themes, locations, outfits, photographic styles, and any special requests. Together, we brainstorm ideas for the children’s photo shoot in Munich and decide what we’d like to capture. This can vary widely—for example, creative kids’ photos, funny kids’ photos, silly photos, casual kids’ photos, or similar concepts. I listen carefully, offer advice, and work with you to bring your ideas to life.
During the children’s photo shoot itself, I try to capture the children, their siblings, and their interactions through photography. If you have multiple children, I often start with the sibling photos. This gives the children a chance to get used to the photo shoot and break the ice. After we’ve taken the photos with the siblings, I take individual portraits of the children. Then one child takes center stage for a while, and we try out different poses and photo scenarios.
My clients often have specific requests and ideas: a location nearby or at a special spot, an outfit, or a beautiful setting. During the children’s photo shoot, we take lots of lively, action-packed photos of the kids. I mix shots where the children are looking directly at the camera with moments that seem to catch them off guard.

Outdoor children’s photography: an exuberant atmosphere and lots of movement in nature
I love photographing children outdoors: in the park, in a meadow, in the garden, or at one of your favorite spots. Here, children can move around freely, run, romp, and play. This carefree atmosphere in nature creates the most authentic photos of children: when your children are picking flowers, jumping in the leaves, throwing stones into the water, or happily running across the meadow.

A Cozy Home Story
Indoor children’s shoot: Relaxed at home in familiar surroundings
A children’s photo shoot at your home as a “home story” has a special charm: Your children are in their familiar surroundings, feel comfortable, and can take a break or play for a moment in between shots. An indoor photo shoot is a great alternative, especially for younger children or when the weather isn’t cooperating.
I make use of the natural light in your rooms and capture moments: while playing in the kids’ room, cuddling on the sofa, romping around on the bed, or exploring the garden. Here, too, I mix shots where the kids look at the camera with natural, candid moments. This results in intimate photos of your children that show them in their real home.

Outdoor children’s shoot: Most children’s shoots take place outdoors in nature. Children can run around, discover new things and let off steam. Whether in the English Garden, on the banks of the Isar, on a meadow or in your own garden: the natural surroundings with soft daylight create an exuberant atmosphere and lively children’s photos.
Children’s photography as a home story: For younger children, a shoot at your home is often a good choice. Children feel safe in a familiar environment and can play in their room in between. A home story creates very personal and relaxed children’s pictures that show your children in their own environment.

My recommendation: For most children’s shoots, I recommend an outdoor shoot in a nice place in Munich, regardless of the time of year. For smaller children, a relaxed home story is a good alternative.

Childhood is full of special moments that deserve to be captured. I’d love to be there with you for important milestones and children’s events, from baptisms to the first day of school. I’ll capture those emotional moments, your children’s beaming smiles, and the festive atmosphere through my lens, all while moving discreetly in the background. Among the most popular occasions for children’s photography are baptisms, First Communion, the first day of school, and, of course, children’s birthday parties.
Breaks, nonsense, and spontaneous ideas are all part of it
A good atmosphere is the key to great photos of children. During my children’s photo shoots, I make sure your children feel comfortable right from the start.
Candid Photos of Children: I don’t ask children to strike artificial poses or smile perfectly. I take advantage of seemingly random situations to capture natural photos of children. I take the time to wait for the right moment—when children are laughing spontaneously, looking intently at something, or playing boisterously.
Fun in the children’s photo shoot: The children’s photo shoot should be fun for the children, only then will lively and funny children’s photos be created. Your children are welcome to bring in their own ideas: bring their favorite cuddly toy, play certain games or simply fool around. I organize the shoot as a relaxed event where we take pictures.
Relaxed shooting environment: I prefer to photograph children outdoors in nature, where they find a relaxing environment for natural children’s pictures. Children can run around freely on the meadow, in the park or by the lake or simply explore the area. I like to take plenty of time: for breaks, for playing in between and for spontaneous moments.

I ’ll advise you on locations, outfits, styling, and any other requests or questions you may have. For our photo shoot at your chosen location, I’ll bring a curated selection of accessories. If the session takes a little longer because of siblings, there will be no additional charges. Travel within Munich is already included.
After our photo session, I’ll select the best photos (at least 80), edit them professionally, and upload them to an online gallery for you. You can book your photo package in the next step.

In which regions can we book you for an outdoor kids’ photo shoot or a home story?
I take photos throughout Munich, in the Munich district, the Ebersberg district, the Starnberg district, the Fürstenfeldbruck district, and the Dachau district. If you live farther away, let’s discuss whether I can come to you. I charge an additional fee for travel outside Munich.
Who is your children’s photography service best suited for?
A children’s photo shoot is especially well-suited for families who want to have their children photographed but don’t want pictures of themselves. I connect easily with children and primarily shoot outdoors using natural light. My focus is on authentic and candid children’s photography. It’s very important to me that everyone feels comfortable and has fun. If you’d like photos of yourselves as a family, of siblings, or individual portraits of the children, a family photo shoot would be a better fit. If you’re interested in studio photos with flash, posed shots, or similar styles, my services aren’t the right fit for you.
When is the best time to do a children’s photo shoot? When is the best time to take beautiful photos of children?
No matter the season or your children’s ages, you can book a kids’ photo shoot at any time. For an outdoor children’s photo shoot, the light is most beautiful in the evening, about one to two hours before sunset. If a daytime shoot works better for you, we can also find shady spots during the day or take photos at your home.
How long does a children’s photo shoot take?
Unfortunately, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this, but I usually take photos for about one to two hours. It depends on the number of children and their ages. If the children are still toddlers, their attention span can run out quickly. If I notice they’ve had enough, we’ll shorten the session a bit. Your children’s photo shoot should be a wonderful memory for the little ones.
What do we do about the photo shoot if the weather is bad or if someone is sick?
If the weather is not good enough for an outdoor shoot, I will be happy to come to your home or we can postpone the children’s shoot. If someone is ill, please let me know in good time. Then we will find a good alternative or a new date.
How can we prepare for the children’s photo shoot?
As a general rule, a kids’ photo shoot goes best when the children are healthy, well-fed, and well-rested. If you notice that a child is feeling under the weather, please let us know in advance so we can reschedule. Snacks and drinks are also recommended to keep everyone in good spirits. What’s the best outfit to choose for the kids’ photos? What should the kids wear?
Agree on two to three colors and coordinate the outfits using shades of those colors. This makes photos of siblings, in particular, look harmonious without everyone wearing the same thing. You should avoid large lettering and eye-catching prints, as they’re distracting and make the photos look dated more quickly. Most important of all: the clothes should be comfortable. Which location is best suited for beautiful children’s photos?
I’m happy to accommodate your requests. I know some great photo locations, but I’m also very open to your ideas. I prefer to take photos outdoors in nature using natural light—for example, in the woods, in meadows, on trails, in parks, by lakes, or in the mountains. As a mobile children’s photographer, I’m also happy to come to your home, to your backyard, or indoors.
