At six months, your baby reaches one of the most wonderful milestones of the first year: they’re sitting more and more confidently and independently. This new perspective changes everything. Your baby views the world from a completely new vantage point, reaches for toys, rolls onto their tummy, and displays increasingly expressive facial expressions. A smile, a look of wonder, or a joyful giggle—these moments already reveal a lot about your child’s developing personality.
When the weather is nice, I love to recommend an outdoor baby photo shoot in nature for babies this age. Munich offers many great locations for this: the English Garden, Nymphenburg Palace Park, a meadow along the Isar River, or one of your favorite spots. There’s so much for your baby to discover everywhere. They’ll feel the rustling of the grass beneath their hands, the warmth of the sun, and the fresh air. These genuine, spontaneous reactions result in the most lively photos. And the natural daylight really brings out the warm tones of my photographic style. For younger babies or in case of bad weather, a home session at your place is a great alternative.
Six months is the ideal age for family portraits that actively include your baby. Whether on Mom or Dad’s lap, playing with an older sibling, or cuddling together—these interactions are so much more lively now. The photos show just how much your baby has already become a true member of the family.
By their first birthday, many babies are already standing steadily on their own or taking their first wobbly steps. The world becomes even bigger for your baby. The joy and pride in your child’s eyes as they discover these new skills are indescribable. At the same time, they’ve developed real preferences: your baby knows exactly what they like and what they don’t. And it’s precisely this independence that makes the photos so authentic and lively.
A first-birthday photo shoot can be classic: lively family photos in the Nymphenburg Palace Park, first steps on the grass, and heartfelt laughter while playing together. Or you can opt for a cake smash session, where your little birthday star gets to explore a specially made cake to their heart’s content.
