Children’s Photography in Munich and the Surrounding Area: Lively, Radiant Photos of Children

Patient children’s photographer

I give children as much time as they need. Some jump right in, while others watch from a safe distance at first and come over on their own after a while. Both approaches are fine, and in both cases, the result is lively photos of children.

Trusting atmosphere

Before I turn on the camera, I get to know your children: what their favorite game is right now, what their stuffed animal’s name is, and what’s important to them this week. This process of getting to know each other builds the trust that you can see in the photos later on.

Flexible locations

As a mobile children’s photographer, I’ll come to you: to your favorite spot in nature, to your home, or—if you prefer—to my natural-light studio. In Munich and the surrounding area, we’ll find the perfect location for any weather and any age.

With family or on your own

Kids’ Photo Shoot or Family Photo Shoot: Which One Is Right for You?

In a children’s photo shoot, the focus is on the children—both individually and together with their siblings. This leaves significantly more time for individual portraits and action-packed scenes of your children than in a shoot with the whole family. A family photo shoot also includes photos of the children; in addition, we’ll take pictures of all of you together and of the parents. So your decision depends mainly on whether you, as parents, would like to be in the photos.

This Is How I Work

Candid photos of children playing and exploring

In children’s photography, my focus is on capturing your children just as they are: lively, curious, and full of energy. Instead of staged poses, I capture moments when children are playing, exploring, and simply being kids. Building connections through play: I take the time to talk to your children, get to know their cuddly toys or have fun together. When children perceive me as a friendly companion, they open up and show their real personality. This playful approach creates a basis of trust. Children set the pace: Every child has their own pace and their own way of expressing themselves. Some are ready right away, while others need a little time to warm up. I adapt to their needs and give the children space to blossom. Whether someone needs a break, runs off to play, or just watches quietly at first, that’s perfectly fine. Patience for the Right Moments: I patiently wait for the moments when genuine emotions shine through. These unplanned, spontaneous moments are often the most precious. With a keen sense of the situation and plenty of patience, I capture the moments that reveal your children’s personalities.

Children’s Photographer in Munich: Here’s How a Children’s Photo Shoot Works

I usually talk to my clients on the phone before a children’s photo shoot. I’m interested in their ideas regarding themes, locations, outfits, photographic styles, and any special requests. Together, we brainstorm ideas for the children’s photo shoot in Munich and decide what we’d like to capture. This can vary widely—for example, creative kids’ photos, funny kids’ photos, silly photos, casual kids’ photos, or similar concepts. I listen carefully, offer advice, and work with you to bring your ideas to life.

During the children’s photo shoot itself, I try to capture the children, their siblings, and their interactions through photography. If you have multiple children, I often start with the sibling photos. This gives the children a chance to get used to the photo shoot and break the ice. After we’ve taken the photos with the siblings, I take individual portraits of the children. Then one child takes center stage for a while, and we try out different poses and photo scenarios.

My clients often have specific requests and ideas: a location nearby or at a special spot, an outfit, or a beautiful setting. During the children’s photo shoot, we take lots of lively, action-packed photos of the kids. I mix shots where the children are looking directly at the camera with moments that seem to catch them off guard.

Out and About

Outdoor children’s photography: an exuberant atmosphere and lots of movement in nature

I love photographing children outdoors: in the park, in a meadow, in the garden, or at one of your favorite spots. Here, children can move around freely, run, romp, and play. This carefree atmosphere in nature creates the most authentic photos of children: when your children are picking flowers, jumping in the leaves, throwing stones into the water, or happily running across the meadow.

On request, I am also happy to include adults such as parents, grandmas or grandpas in the children’s photos. This creates valuable multi-generational shots and family photos. If you are also interested in a photo shoot with the whole family, take a look at my family photography page.

A Cozy Home Story

Indoor children’s shoot: Relaxed at home in familiar surroundings

A children’s photo shoot at your home as a “home story” has a special charm: Your children are in their familiar surroundings, feel comfortable, and can take a break or play for a moment in between shots. An indoor photo shoot is a great alternative, especially for younger children or when the weather isn’t cooperating.

I make use of the natural light in your rooms and capture moments: while playing in the kids’ room, cuddling on the sofa, romping around on the bed, or exploring the garden. Here, too, I mix shots where the kids look at the camera with natural, candid moments. This results in intimate photos of your children that show them in their real home.

Different Motifs

Children’s Portraits: Focus on Personality and Charisma

After we’ve taken sibling photos and action-packed shots, each child gets their moment in the spotlight. In the children’s portraits, I capture your children’s personalities and expressions—whether it’s a dreamy gaze, a mischievous smile, or a look of focused wonder.

We try out different themes during the session. Some children want to be photographed with their favorite stuffed animal, while others have their own ideas for poses or props. I’m happy to accommodate them. These children’s portraits are perfect for hanging on the wall or giving as gifts to grandparents.

Your favorite places

Locations for Your Children’s Photo Shoot

The location is crucial for beautiful children’s photos. Depending on how old your children are and where they feel most comfortable, there are various options for your children’s photo shoot in Munich. Outdoor children’s shoot: Most children’s shoots take place outdoors in nature. Children can run around, discover new things and let off steam. Whether in the English Garden, on the banks of the Isar, on a meadow or in your own garden: the natural surroundings with soft daylight create an exuberant atmosphere and lively children’s photos. Children’s photography as a home story: For younger children, a shoot at your home is often a good choice. Children feel safe in a familiar environment and can play in their room in between. A home story creates very personal and relaxed children’s pictures that show your children in their own environment. Children’s Photo Sessions in the Studio: Upon request, I also offer children’s photography sessions in my natural-light studio. If you’re interested in a children’s photo session in the studio, please feel free to contact me. My recommendation: For most children’s shoots, I recommend an outdoor shoot in a nice place in Munich, regardless of the time of year. For smaller children, a relaxed home story is a good alternative.

Your Family Events

Special Occasions: Baptism, First Communion, First Day of School, and Birthday

Childhood is full of special moments that deserve to be captured. I’d love to be there with you for important milestones and children’s events, from baptisms to the first day of school. I’ll capture those emotional moments, your children’s beaming smiles, and the festive atmosphere through my lens, all while moving discreetly in the background. Among the most popular occasions for children’s photography are baptisms, First Communion, the first day of school, and, of course, children’s birthday parties.

Relaxed atmosphere

Breaks, nonsense, and spontaneous ideas are all part of it

A good atmosphere is the key to great photos of children. During my children’s photo shoots, I make sure your children feel comfortable right from the start. Candid Photos of Children: I don’t ask children to strike artificial poses or smile perfectly. I take advantage of seemingly random situations to capture natural photos of children. I take the time to wait for the right moment—when children are laughing spontaneously, looking intently at something, or playing boisterously. Fun in the children’s photo shoot: The children’s photo shoot should be fun for the children, only then will lively and funny children’s photos be created. Your children are welcome to bring in their own ideas: bring their favorite cuddly toy, play certain games or simply fool around. I organize the shoot as a relaxed event where we take pictures. Relaxed shooting environment: I prefer to photograph children outdoors in nature, where they find a relaxing environment for natural children’s pictures. Children can run around freely on the meadow, in the park or by the lake or simply explore the area. I like to take plenty of time: for breaks, for playing in between and for spontaneous moments.
